Laparoscopic surgery, also known as keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical technique that allows complex procedures to be performed through small incisions using a camera and specialised instruments — resulting in faster recovery and less discomfort for patients.
Unlike traditional open surgery, laparoscopic surgery uses several small cuts (usually 0.5–1.5cm) instead of one large incision. A tiny camera called a laparoscope is inserted, allowing the surgeon to view the surgical site on a monitor and operate with precision.
